Jazz-Age Inspired Dining and Music Venue

Located in beautiful downtown Charleston at 547 King Street Prohibition is a 300 capacity full-service restaurant with Southern-inspired cuisine award-winning cocktails and regular live music. The venue captures the spirit of the Prohibition era with vintage-inspired decor and speakeasy atmosphere.

Live Music Programming

Prohibition features live jazz swing and big band music regularly with DJs on weekends creating a dance floor atmosphere. Sunday brunch from 11am-2pm showcases bluegrass band New Ghost Town fronted by Daniel Patrick on mandolin and vocals. The band has had a Top Ten Billboard Album and plays everything from traditional bluegrass standards to contemporary hits in bluegrass style. Saturday brunch features soulful singer-songwriter Krystal Halvorson from 11am-2pm with unique interpretations of classics from the 50s to today.

Dining Experience

The restaurant serves brunch Thursday through Sunday from 11am-2:30pm and dinner nightly from 5pm-10pm. The menu features Southern-inspired dishes sourced locally when possible. Signature items include charred wings with Memphis dry rub crispy brussels sprouts buttermilk biscuits with housemade berry jam and a raw bar featuring American caviar and fresh oysters. Entrees highlight catch of the day and premium steaks with complementary sides.

Cocktails and Atmosphere

Cocktail enthusiasts find well-executed classics and creative twists like the gin-based cherry sour. The bar program features craft cocktails house specialties and an extensive selection of beer wine and spirits. The venue has won awards for Best Downtown Bar and Best Cocktails from Charleston City Paper.

Event Spaces

With three distinct spaces available Prohibition can host up to 150 guests for private bookings corporate events rehearsal dinners and weddings. The main dining room seats 70 guests with standing room for over 120. Two beautiful climate-controlled outdoor patio areas provide additional versatile event space. The venue offers customized menus and craft cocktail service for special events.
