Alexander's Music Box - Downtown Killeen Blues Venue
Alexander's Music Box is a dedicated blues and R&B music venue located in the heart of downtown Killeen at 313 North 8th Street. This 18+ establishment opened in 2024 and represents a dream realized by owner Jessica Gonzalez to honor the memory of her father Alexander Hollmon who was a passionate lover of blues music and a Vietnam Veteran native of New Orleans.
Venue Concept
Described as an entwined blues oasis the venue features a carefully designed teal and black color scheme with upscale-casual aesthetic. A painted portrait of Alexander hangs prominently above the bar serving as a constant tribute to the venue's namesake and inspiration. The space is designed to be a home for soulful sounds of blues where the community gathers to share and enjoy live performances.
Music Events
The venue hosts music programming three nights a week with distinct offerings for each evening. Thursdays from 4pm to midnight feature community-led picking circles jam sessions and karaoke nights. Fridays from 4pm to 1am include karaoke DJ entertainment and open mic jam sessions where musicians spontaneously collaborate and create. Saturdays from 4pm to 1am feature live performance slots for established and emerging blues artists. The venue also accommodates private party bookings on other nights.

Heritage
The venue draws inspiration from deep blues roots. Alexander Hollmon grew up during the golden era of blues music and attended concerts by the Neville Brothers at his prom before they became famous. His cousin Leonard Lee was part of Shirley and Lee the Sweethearts of the Blues. This rich musical heritage is woven throughout the venue's culture and programming.
