Historic English-Style Pub and Music Venue

Located within the Fuller Building - Fox & Goose Public House opened in 1975 and has become a beloved Sacramento institution. The venue was founded by Bill and Denise Dalton - who named it after Bill's hometown pub in Hebden Bridge - Yorkshire - England. The building itself dates to 1913 - creating an authentic old-factory-brick atmosphere that perfectly complements the traditional English pub experience.

Live Music Legacy

Fox & Goose hosts live music five nights per week - with Monday's open mic night serving as Sacramento's longest-running music open mic - operating continuously for over 30 years. Hosted by Dave Baldwin - the open mic uses a lottery system for performance order - ensuring fairness while maintaining the excitement of the draw. Musicians perform three songs for 15 minutes - and a featured artist closes each evening. The show runs until everyone who wants to play has performed - no matter how late. Weekend performances feature diverse bands across multiple genres - while Tuesday evenings are dedicated to Pub Quiz trivia night.

Dining and Drinks

The pub serves breakfast - lunch - and dinner with a menu featuring traditional English fare including fish and chips - bangers and mash - corned beef hash - smoked salmon - and their famous olallieberry scones. American classics like omelets - waffles - pancakes - and French toast round out the breakfast offerings. The bar features a carefully curated selection of wines - beers - and cocktails. Many regulars visit for the warm - welcoming atmosphere that makes Fox & Goose feel like a second home.

Community Hub

The venue's intimate layout creates interesting sight lines throughout the historic building - though many seats do face the performance area. The old brick walls and vintage architecture add character to every event. Fox & Goose has evolved from a simple pub into a true community gathering place where artists - regulars - and newcomers all find common ground. The venue celebrated its 50th anniversary in January 2025 - marking half a century of serving Sacramento's Midtown neighborhood with authentic hospitality and quality entertainment.
